The Apple iPhone is the ideal mobile device for sports betting. Unlike a Blackberry or a flip phone, the iPhone and it’s full size screen allows handicappers to view mobile sports betting software the way it was designed. Most online sportsbooks that offer mobile betting are compatible with the iPhone.
Best iPhone Bookmakers for UK & Europe
#1 – PaddyPower.com: Clean & easy to use iPhone sports betting app. Great for UK & European sports. Live (in-play) iPhone betting. PaddyPower.com is well established as one of the premiere online & mobile bookies in the world. They have a huge selection of football, cricket, rugby, tennis, and every other sport imaginable. They offer deposit options & currencies for punters from all over the world, along with promotions to keep everyone happy as well.
Best iPhone Sportsbooks for US Bettors
#1 – Bovada Sportsbook: The Bovada Sportsbook is the best U.S. friendly sportsbook for iPhone users. Bovada seems to do everything right, and their iPhone betting app is no exception. To make betting easy, they’ve stripped away everything, literally, down to nothing but the sports, odds, and betting options. For account balances and to view open bets, their iPhone app has very simple, graphic navigation at the bottom of the app screen. Every mobile sportsbook could learn from Bovada. Visa accepted for quick deposits from US bettors.
As the U.S. version of the Bodog Sportsbook, Bovada offers betting on all of the most popular American sports. Of course this includes NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, NCAA football & basketball, golf, and everything else you can think of. Although Bovada is a U.S. focused sportsbook, they offer a surprisingly wide range of sports that are not as popular in the U.S.. Ex-pats from Europe and other parts of the world living in the United States can bet on their favorite football (soccer) teams, rugby, cricket, and other sports as well.
Best iPhone Bookies for Australian Sports Betting
CentreBet (CentreBet.com) and SportsBet Australia (SportsBet.com.au) offer iPhone betting, and are Aussie-focused online bookies. They offer betting on rugby, AFL, cricket, OZ horse racing tracks, and plenty more.
Both of these bookies offer live betting for iPhone users, and both software packages function well. To save time, register on your computer, then log into your sports betting account from your iPhone. The website will walk you through a simple process so you can place bets within a few minutes.
Sports Betting on Apple iPhones
As mentioned above, most online sportsbooks now offer iPhone sports betting. All of the typical bets you can place online can also be placed on your iPhone. The same can be said for iPad sports betting, which is great for Apple addicts who own multiple devices.
iPhone Live Betting Sites
Most online bookies that offer iPhone apps or mobile versions of their websites offer live betting as well. Live betting (also called in-play betting) means that you can bet on individual events during a game, no matter where you are (even sitting in the stands watching it). Bet on it, then watch it play out in front of you with live betting.
To improve the live betting experience for iPhone owners, online bookmakers continue to improved their software & betting apps. We now have faster load times, which means we can make those quick live bets before the odds change.
Types of iPhone Sports Bets
While a few online sportsbooks still limit their iPhone sports betting options to the more basic bets, most of them now offer the same betting menu that can be found at the sportsbook website. Most offer bets on NFL & NCAA football, NBA & NCAA basketball, MLB baseball, NHL hockey, soccer, horse racing, tennis, golf, Nascar & F1 auto racing, UFC & MMA, and more.
The types of bets that can be made generally include all of the typical betting options, including point spreads, money line, puck line, run line, totals (over/unders), parlay bets (accumulator bets), teasers, pleasers, reverse bets, if-bets, round robin bets, and more. If the bet can be made on the sportsbook website, it can probably be made on your iPhone as well. This is especially true if you’ve chosen one of our recommended iPhone betting sites listed above.
Most mobile sportsbooks offer minimum bets in the $1 – $5 range, with maximum bets up to $5,000. Some bookmakers accept even larger wagers, up to the $25,000 range. If you’re a high-stakes punter looking to make even larger bets than this, contact the customer service department at your preferred bookmaker and request to have your limits raised. Some of the larger bookies will review your account, and if they don’t think you’re a sharp who’s going to break them, they’ll often approve the request.
iPhone Sportsbook Deposit Options
Any deposit options that are available at the sportsbook website are also available through your iPhone. Most online sportsbooks offer VIsa credit & debit cards, Mastercard, Neteller, Moneybookers, Click2Pay, bank transfer, wire transfer, ewallets, and more.
The problem is, it’s more time consuming to make your deposits from your iPhone. For this reason, we recommend making deposits & withdrawals from your laptop or desktop computer.
Right now, various online payment processors are working on simplified, faster ways for people to pay for things. Several of them are working to develop one-step payment systems that will eventually become available to iPhone and other mobile devices. Until that happens, you’ll find it easier to deposit from your computer.

iPhone 3G & 4G Sportsbook App Downloads
Most online sportsbooks offer iPhone betting apps that need to be downloaded for placing wagers. Others do not, and the betting is done directly in your browser through their mobile-ready website. These are generally stripped-down versions of their website, making it easier to find the bets you’re looking for. The main benefit of a mobile-ready website versus an app is that customers don’t have to use memory on their devices.
The downside to betting through a browser instead of an app is that mobile-ready websites generally aren’t designed quite as well. You might find yourself doing more scrolling, and more hunting through navigation. When the sportsbooks design apps, they hire professional app designers who are used to creating the simplest navigation and clearest buttons. They’re used to getting the most out of very little space, where website designers often are not. So, iPhone apps tend to be better than mobile-ready websites, but this shouldn’t be taken as a blanket statement. Of course there are exceptions to this.
How to Register an iPhone Sports Betting Account
As mentioned above, it’s easier to register a new account from a computer than from an iPhone – but it’s getting easier. These days, the registration process is fairly easy on any type of smartphone, but funding the account is more difficult. If you’re sitting there with time to kill right now, go ahead and register at one of the books listed above, then make your first deposit from a computer at a later time.
If you’ve registered and funded your new account from a computer, login to the website from your iPhone. Most mobile bookmakers can detect that you’re using an iPhone and will automatically redirect you to a login page for that device. At this point, you’re typically a minute or two from being able to place your first wager.
iPhone Sportsbook Bonuses & Free Bets
Some online sportsbooks offer bonuses or free bets for people who bet on sports through their iPhone. In fact, these sites generally offer two types of bonuses. First, they’ll give you a bonus when you register online. Then, once you log into your account from your iPhone, they’ll give you a bonus for that as well. Most of these bonuses are given automatically, with no extra steps required by the customer.
iPhone Sports Gambling Sites
If you’re interested in iPhone sports gambling, the industry is ready for you. Plenty of online sportsbooks & racebooks are Apple iPhone 3G & 4G compatible. We saw improvements in mobile software & betting apps from dozens of online bookmakers in the last few years, and that will continue in the future. Online bookies realize this is the future of sports betting, so we can expect mobile sports betting to continue to improve.
Although there are some bookies that offer other forms of iPhone gambling, like slots, blackjack, and roulette, there is a lot of room for growth in this area. As time goes on, more of these casino games will become available, and eventually poker will too. There are a few gambling sites that offer mobile poker right now, but honestly, most of them don’t function very well.
In 2013, Blackberry is introducing new phones expected to compete better with the Android and iPhone. They will have full size screens, be less business-minded, and should have faster internet speeds as well. For iPhone users, these are non-issues because the technology is already very good.
