Bovada’s Welcome Bonus

Bovada offers a 50% match welcome bonus, good up to $250.

You’ll need to roll this over before cashing out your winnings. The rollover is 5x for the sportsbook, and 30x for the casino.

Straightforward, eh?

Another offer you can participate in is their Refer-a-Friend bonus. You’ll get 200% of whatever your friend deposits up to $100.

Annnnd ...that’s it. That’s all Bovada has for bonuses unless you jump into their poker room or casino.

Sort of sad, really. This is a fraction of the offers you’ll find at books like Bet365 or 888.

The upside – this is a bigger bonus than what you get at Bet365 or 888.

Bovada’s Betting Options

Starting with their cricket section –

Bovada filters your cricket options in 3 different ways – International, Domestic and Futures. Or, you can view them all under the ‘all’ filter.

Again, simple.

Here are some of the matches they offered when I last reviewed them:

Domestic

  • Western Australia Warriors vs Queensland Bulls

Futures

  • Asia Cup
  • ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2016
  • County Championship Division 1 2016
  • Ashes Series 2017/2018

Feeling a bit ...underwhelmed?

Me too.

I assume they have fewer cricket options because the sport isn’t as popular here in the USA as it is everywhere else.

You do have plenty of other options, though. You can bet on all major sports – basketball, baseball, football, hockey, etc – as well as lesser popular sports like: e-sports, snooker, cycling, racing, rugby and motorsports.

To help you make better bets Bovada offers a ‘Sports Insider’ section which appears to be sports news. And they have a statistics section that includes a database of info on things like injuries, matchups, ‘hot or nots’, and more.

So there is a little upside to betting here.

Can bovada be trusted

Only to (maybe) come back down again. Here’s why:

It sounds like Bovada caps winning bettors. This isn’t surprising though considering they’ve gone out of their way to create a poker room that repulses pro poker players.

Banking Methods at Bovada

Bovada doesn’t offer many banking options. Just credit cards, debit cards, gift cards and MoneyGram (which is called Rapid Transfer at Bovada).

The worst part isn’t the lack of options.

It’s the fees.

For starters, they charge a 4.9% fee on every credit/debit card deposit (after your first, which is free).

This ups their minimum deposit from $20 to $21.

Is Bovada Reliable

On top of that you’ll have fees to cash out.

Your first paper check of the month is free. From there they will cost you $50. And fees for Rapid Transfer will range from $20 to $60.

The tradeoff is that Bovada has FAST cash-outs. I’ve seen reports of cash-outs being completed in a matter of days, a couple weeks max. This is SO MUCH faster than other US-facing brands.

A High Point: Bovada’s Software

Bovada casino review 2020

I know – so far this review has been so-so.

But one area Bovada does shine is their software. It looks like they redid it since the last time I reviewed them.

Their site is mobile responsive. It looks and works great on my phone.

Their site is intuitive too – finding your way around is NOT a problem. Neither is making a bet.

The bottom line – it’s great to see them continuously make changes that improve our experience.

Overall Rating

We can’t lie. Bovada brings some great things to the table.

For example:

  • Fast cash outs. They’re one of the top sites in cash outs – if not the best.
  • They have excellent software. You can easily make bets from any device.
  • They have a slightly larger deposit bonus than other books we’ve reviewed.
  • They have a ‘getting started’ page. This was added recently as it wasn’t there the last time I reviewed them. It’s a great page that shows you how to use their site, what bonuses they have, and more.

Most important of all – they’re a trustworthy book.

Where they drop the ball...

Their fees. You have fees on both deposits and cash outs. Pretty expensive fees, too, even when you consider their fast cash-out times.

It’d also be great to see more cricket betting options. They’re sorely lacking in this area.

For that reason I give them a B+.

Not a bad book by any means (especially if we rated them overall). Just not the best book for cricket bettors.
